How does Tooway satellite broadband work?

Tooway satellite broadband works by connecting your computer via satellite to a superfast link to the internet. Tooway's 10.2 Mb satellite broadband package is available everywhere in Europe. Tooway Satellite Broadband is what is known as bidirectional - that means that the receiving and transmitting of data is done via the satellite, so there is no need for a phoneline with Tooway satellite broadband.

What equipment do I need for tooway satellite broadband?

Well unlike standard broadband, with Tooway satellite broadband you don't need a phone line - just a single satellite mini dish and a set-top-box (modem). The dish is about the size of a dustbin lid! There is a one-off cost of £199.99 to cover hardware. Tooway satellite broadband works with PC and Mac.

How is Tooway satellite broadband installed?

Just order online on the Tooway satellite broadband website. You can then install it yourself easily, or Tooway can send one of their certified Installers to install you tooway satellite broadband. Finally, connect your computer or home network to the new system. Tooway is installed within seven days.

What happens if I go over my download allowance?

Tooway can control excessive use and to enforce the subscription levels with its Fair Access Policy (FAP). Excessive users become limited in speed at the moment they exceed a certain threshold of transferred data volume in any given time period. If Tooway didn't enforce download allowances, then typically 80% of the available bandwidth on the network would be consumed by 20% of the customers.

If you get caught out by the FAP, than your Tooway satellite broadband package allows, you can upgrade to the next service level, buy a volume booster token from Tooway Satellite Broadband for the month, or wait until your usage level falls below the FAP.

Will my Tooway satellite broadband service be affected by the weather?

The standard Tooway dish and mount is designed to withstand 100mph winds. However, you may find that torrential rain or snow may cause slight degraded service in extreme conditions as signals are reflected a little by rain. Tooway systems will automatically increase power levels to compensate for these conditions.
