New broadband installations were 20% below expectations in the three months from July to September this year.

Broadband analysts Point Topic forecast in April 2008 that the last half of the year would see 800,000 new broadband lines installed. Indeed, June 2008 figures were just ahead of the forecast. However since them broadband installations have failed to keep pace, and in Q3 only 313,000 broadband lines installed - compared to the previously prdicted 390,000 for that period.
