65% of UK households now have internet access, according to the Office for National Statistics - up from 61% in 2007. This 65% equates to almost 16.46 million households. Not surprisingly homes in the south-east (74%) are most likely to gave internet access. Those in the north-east (54%) are least likely. Of those that don't have internet access there has been a sharp increase since 2006 n the number who definitely don't want internet acccess at home - up from 3% then to 24% now. Education has a significant effect on the likelihood of a household to have access to the internet. 93% of those under 70 who posess a degree also have internet access - the figure for those without any qualifications is only 56%.
