The BBChas been criticised over the success of its "watch again" online service iPlayer. The ISP Tiscali has said that the BBC should contribute to the cost of network upgrades, made necessary in part because of the success of iPlayer which is putting pressure on available bandwidths. Hoiwever the BBC's head of future media and technology, Ashley Highfield, believes that these network upgrade costs should be paid for by the ISPs themselves: "The success of the iPlayer should be of benefit to the whole UK broadband industry, increasing those who want to take up broadband," Read more on the BBC News website. |
